TA Posted August 3, 2020 at 04:12 PM Report Posted August 3, 2020 at 04:12 PM Hello, I am an associate member of veterinary task force working in a local city of Japan. I am asked recently to translate the following sets of poster catch phrases into different languages to make a multilingual poster. Very unfortunately, I do not speak Chinese. So, that is why I finally arrived at this forum. The poster is now being made and distributed to remind people of bringing their food waste back to their own home, say, when they camp in a river or a mountain. According to the veterinarians, wild pigs or boars can eat them and become infected with the corona virus if those people who threw them away were already infected. The newly infected animals, in turn, infect other humans with the virus, because wild pigs or boars can carry the virus. Therefore, what they came up with is the catch phrases in the below. There are two versions of them, for each of which I hope anyone on this forum can translate into Chinese. Take all food waste away with you when you leave. It can infect the wild pigs with the virus if they eat it. Take all food waste away with you when you leave. The wild pigs may eat it and pass the virus to people. If I am allowed, I would like to ask you to translate them into two versions of Chinese, Simplified Chinse (簡体字) and Traditional Chinse (繁体字). Even if I am not allowed to do this, any suggestion or translation will be much appreciated. Thank you for your attention. TA Quote
Demonic_Duck Posted August 3, 2020 at 05:05 PM Report Posted August 3, 2020 at 05:05 PM Disclaimer: not a native speaker. Someone else can probably do a better job. Take all food waste away with you when you leave. It can infect the wild pigs with the virus if they eat it. 离开此地时,请将所有食物垃圾随身带走。 野猪食垃圾可能会得患新冠病毒。 Take all food waste away with you when you leave. Popular Post If_IwasaLinguist Posted August 3, 2020 at 05:08 PM Popular Post Report Posted August 3, 2020 at 05:08 PM 1. 请您离开时带走所有剩余食物,以免野猪误食感染病毒 2. 请您离开时带走所有剩余食物,野猪误食后会将病毒传染给人类 Both two phrases are translated literally without considering their stylistic requirements. If you need a refinded version, I can retranslate them later. 4 1 Quote
TA Posted August 3, 2020 at 10:26 PM Author Report Posted August 3, 2020 at 10:26 PM Thank you very much for all the comments and suggestions. I could not find such a place like this elsewhere. These are helpful enough but I would like to see a refined version (to: If_IwasaLinguist), as these are used as a poster's catch phrase, which prioritizes getting the attention of people who see it.
