adamlau Posted September 21, 2005 at 02:07 AM Report Share Posted September 21, 2005 at 02:07 AM And how does it differ from Big5? I was going to install PenPower 2.0p and didn;t know which language set to install (Big5 5401 vs. Big5 vs. GB). I want to be able to write and recognize both Traditional and Simplified. But I can only install one set. Which set to install? Is 5401 the most used 5401 characters of Big5? Again, which set to install if want to be able to write and recognize both Traditional and Simplified?
trevelyan Posted September 21, 2005 at 03:55 PM Report Share Posted September 21, 2005 at 03:55 PM Big5 is traditional, Guobiao is simplified. If you want a character set that supports both, you're currently stuck with Unicode. There are a few technical reasons why coding in Unicode is a bit harder for applications than just using either Big5 or GB2312. If your software package is giving you a choice though, its because it wants you to choose between simplified and traditional character support, that's all.
