Jim Posted October 11, 2020 at 05:59 AM Report Posted October 11, 2020 at 05:59 AM It's text from the 朱子家训, the "Master Zhu's family instructions", a set of admonishments by the famous neo-Confucian philosopher Zhu Xi ETA On desktop now and checking find it's not by Zhu Xi at all, but a later writer called 朱用纯 Sorry for the misinformation. The one quote about thinking about where your rice and gruel came from visible in your picture was used by Xi Jinping in a fairly recent speech apparently. Found a translation of it under his courtesy name: http://pages.ucsd.edu/~dkjordan/chin/chtxts/JuBorlu-English.pdf You can see maxims two and three in your picture. 1 1 Quote
