Please translate my tattoo

Had this tat since 1999 and forgot what it means. Can anyone help me please?

Fake Chinese character. No genuine components I can pick out (right hand side looks a little like 木, but with an extra stroke).

I believe this is actually perhaps a bad rendering of 殊. I could certainly imagine this being the result of someone asking for 'different in Chinese' at a tattoo parlour...

No, Kanji (Japanese) are made up of mostly the same building blocks as Hanzi (Chinese). The building block on the left couldn't exist in either. The building block on the right actually could be 尗, but it looks like that doesn't appear in that position in any common character.

 

However... I think @Tomsima may be onto something — it's just that the two halves have become mangled and partially merged.

Tomsima, what does that symbol actually mean? It does look close to what my tattoo looks like.
