New Members Valerio Posted November 24, 2020 at 11:26 AM New Members Report Share Posted November 24, 2020 at 11:26 AM Hi guys, i'm new here and I don't know properly how it works. So sorry about it. I'm currently studying Chinese and I'm about to graduate. The topic I choose for my thesis includes an analysis about The Simpsons in Chinese. My question is do you guys know some web sites where I can find some information about it? Official dubbing, subtitling, TV channels that transmit the series or even script of the chinese version in order to confront the differences. I would be pleased even if I can ask some question to anyone who knows some of this. Thanks.
大块头 Posted November 24, 2020 at 08:21 PM Report Share Posted November 24, 2020 at 08:21 PM There used to be a site called shooter.cn that hosted fan-made subtitles, but it looks like it was taken down. This Reddit thread suggests zimuku.net, and a search on that site yields lots of subtitles for the Simpsons.
Dawei3 Posted November 24, 2020 at 08:31 PM Report Share Posted November 24, 2020 at 08:31 PM Hi Valerio, It's interesting to hear that the Simpsons was dubbed in Chinese. A discussion from Lexicon valley podcasts that focuses on translations of the comedy show Seinfeld might give you some insights for your research. In it, they offer some theories on why Seinfeld failed when translated into other languages, but the Simpsons succeeded: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/lexicon-valley-2742/episodes/whats-the-deal-with-translatin-120913
New Members Valerio Posted November 25, 2020 at 11:25 AM Author New Members Report Share Posted November 25, 2020 at 11:25 AM Thank you guys, I found that Fox, back in 2014 had a deal with Sohu tv. I didn't know about this streaming service in china but seems to be pretty important. The episodes had been subtitled and not dubbed. I hope to find more information about this. ?
