Class Size: BNU, BCLU

Hi guys,

Could anyone report on the average class size in their programs at BNU and BCLU?

I have heard BCLU is about 20-30. Not sure about BNU.

Also how does this vary by the 30hr course vs the 20hr course, and time of the semester?

Thanks for any help!

I'm currently in the 30hr/week at BLCU and 20-30 ppl per class is a bit exagerrated.. In my class there is about 15 students, in some other classes less, but most of them around 15.

I'm really happy with my class, it's got a good atmosphere. But some ppl in others classes complain that its too hard/easy full of lazy/bookworms etc but thats probably just random pick. School alright, campus has got good cheap resturants, vivid life/nightlife etc. Dorms are decent but not as cheap as they perhaps should be. I pay 700kuai more a month and share a high standard 150sqm apartment in wudaokou by the trainstation.

Could you give me an idea of what a typical week's schedule and amount of homework there is? Also, how are the classes structured? Do they drill, do grammer, etc? Is it all in Chinese?

Thanks!

Typically, Chinese instruction is split into different classes such as writing, listening, speaking (kouyu), and maybe an elective like newspaper reading.

Classes are taught in Chinese and typically you will take them with foreigners.

Thanks for your attention. I was trying to get a more specific idea of what goes on in class, and how fast the pace is compared to what I'm currently taking (which is a couple of Adult education classes once a week, and a tutor one day a week for two hours.

Would anyone be willing to record and upload a typical day's classes? I would provide a permanent server location for the files. It would be worth having a "live" example to judge oneself against, and also an example of what to expect. I'd want to have complete class sessions, if possible.

Let me know by PM if someone wants the server space, etc.

Stephan
