Anano Posted February 4, 2021 at 03:45 PM Report Posted February 4, 2021 at 03:45 PM Hello, I have written to several universities about what should I do to get a pre-admission letter for chinese language program(I`m applying for CSC as a general scholar),none of them responded yet. Is it a common practise not to respond at all or should I wait little more? ? Quote
芒果乾 Posted February 6, 2021 at 07:53 PM Report Posted February 6, 2021 at 07:53 PM In 2019, I applied for a Chinese language course (one year) and got a place without the pre admission letter. Personally, I would not bother with getting one for a general scholar course and would concentrate on writing a good study plan to persuade your target universities why you are better than the competition. 1 Quote
Anano Posted February 7, 2021 at 11:04 AM Author Report Posted February 7, 2021 at 11:04 AM Thank you for your response, very helpflul! Just the case is that before I apply to the university, first I have to persuade the embassy of China in my country that I am a good candidate for the CSC,in that case a pre-admission letter helps a lot. But most of the universities do not have an information how to get a pre-admission for language program on their pages, neither they answer my email.... Also, can you give any tips/advise about the study plan?I would appreciate it a lot.? Quote
芒果乾 Posted February 8, 2021 at 06:58 PM Report Posted February 8, 2021 at 06:58 PM This is what I wrote in 2019: * why I wanted to study in China (I highlighted Chinese being an important language in the future) * why I wanted to study in Shanghai (tailor it to the city you want to go to) * my current occupation * what I did in the past regarding learning Chinese and my awareness of Chinese culture * the Chinese people I met and how they influenced me to want to go to Shanghai * what I can bring to the table in the classroom * my plans after studying Chinese in China Please note that my study plan was in Chinese. If you are at intermediate level or above in Chinese, then it's highly recommended that you write it in Chinese or do a Google Translate if you are lazy. Do get a Chinese friend (if you have one) to proofread it for you either way. I am applying again this year so my study plan has to be changed slightly as my circumstances have changed but at least half what I wrote in 2019 will still be relevant. 1 Quote
