艾墨本 Posted February 6, 2021 at 03:16 PM Report Posted February 6, 2021 at 03:16 PM With so many of my friends getting stuck in China this break and also possibly this next summer, there seems to be an uptick in people asking me for advice and where to study Chinese. These are all adults in their 30s to 50s. While I know of Keats Chinese from personal experience, I don't know of many others. I'd love everyone's help compliling a list of options and then I can just link people here. In the interest of being short and sweet, let's stick to a consistent format. If there is a thread with more details on the forums, include a link to that. I'm not going to fill out one for Keats either, though, since I believe their program has changed significantly since I did it some 4 or 5 years ago and know that there are others with more recent experiences. Also, if someone else has done a post about a school, you can do another post about them. I will attempt to aggregate the various posts in the main post but will also take creative license in choosing which points to keep and which to delete. Again, brevity is important here. Organization/school: [If there is a forum thread dedicated to the school, add it as a hyperlink] Website: Location: 1-on-1 cost (est): Small group cost (est): What they do well: (3-5 short bullet points) What they don't do well: (3-5 short bullet points) Other important details: (you can be more wordy here) Some questions to consider, though not limited to.: What level students do they work with most? Novice? Advanced? Is there a particular teacher that you recommend? Is it immersion? How's the city life? Can I maintain the lifestyle I have coming from a city like Shanghai? (Gym, good food, going out) Do they provide living quarters? How are they? How easy was it to sign up? Would they allow me to switch teachers without any fuss if I'm not satisfied with mine? How well structured are the classes? Do they make custom classes based on individual needs? Does it cost extra? Was the management team helpful? Etc. 1 2 Quote
