Popular Post Luxi Posted February 22, 2021 at 01:10 PM Popular Post Report Posted February 22, 2021 at 01:10 PM From the outstanding multi-media publication RADII ("an independent platform of artists, writers and creators dedicated to sharing vibrant stories from the rarely explored sides of new China"): 100 films that may help to better understand China. Quote ...This is not a ranked list of 1-100 — we’re not trying to tell you the 100 “best” or “most important” films to come out of China. Our goal is to give a round and deep profile of the country through the medium of films made here in the last 100 years or so. The list is split into 10 categories: Pre-War, Mao Years, Opening Up, Indie and Arthouse, Documentaries, Wuxia, Popcorn, China Today, Bad Movies, Animation. Where available, there are links to the individual films. The You Tube links I tried were working but unfortunately some links are region-dependent or no longer available. Be prepared to be disappointed. Even with unavoidable disappointments, this is a valuable list, and a real treasure-trove for China's pre-War films (anyone for melodrama?) 7 1 2 Quote

Balthazar Posted February 22, 2021 at 06:34 PM Report Posted February 22, 2021 at 06:34 PM Thanks indeed! Some great films there - and quite I few I haven't even heard of. Quote
Dawei3 Posted February 24, 2021 at 02:24 AM Report Posted February 24, 2021 at 02:24 AM Thanks for reminding me about RADII. They have some fun videos as well and I hadn't check their site in quite awhile. I particularly like the ones they have about Chinese slang. I've used what RADII taught me with Chinese friends and they were shocked in a fun way. One friend with excellent English stammered "how, how, how do you KNOW that??? Even my parents don't know that!!! Then she broke out laughing. Quote
