merriman-xyz Posted March 9, 2021 at 09:33 AM Report Posted March 9, 2021 at 09:33 AM Request: Original tapes/CD/mp3s for John DeFrancis' Intermediate and Advanced Chinese textbooks In 2013, Seton Hall released the audio to the public for John DeFrancis' Chinese textbook series here: https://www.shu.edu/global-learning-center/chinese-audio-materials.cfm. Unfortunately, while the quality of the audio for Beginner Chinese is solid, but is unusable for most the Intermediate Chinese and varies for the Advanced Chinese. Here is example audio from the beginner book: http://a32.phobos.apple.com/us/r30/CobaltPublic/v4/16/b0/01/16b00156-a2cb-96f1-e096-b9484ae4bfad/322-8323264016894303771-Beginning_Chinese_Lesson_08.mp3 Here is example audio from the intermediate book: http://a1257.phobos.apple.com/us/r30/CobaltPublic4/v4/6e/12/79/6e1279aa-5a0b-4bac-561b-bd09f7c43319/314-5899126165984696130-Intermediate_Chinese_02.mp3 As a note, the audio was released under a "Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0 Unported License", so copyright shouldn't be an issue here. Spoiler If you have any of recordings with better quality, please share! pon00050 Posted March 10, 2021 at 04:05 PM Report Posted March 10, 2021 at 04:05 PM https://auphonic.com/landing Above is a link for the service named Auphonic that's supposed to make an audio sound better. They give you two hours of credits for free every month when you sign up. I suggest that you give it a shot and see how good the result is. If you are determined to get a hand on better quality audio, maybe this is an option for you. 1 Quote
