cbfunky Posted March 25, 2021 at 01:33 PM Report Posted March 25, 2021 at 01:33 PM So we have this sentence here in our homework and I don't understand what's supposed to go in the blank: 现在我要_______学习汉语, 可能我给我朋友翻译。 The way I understand the sentence, I would just leave it as is: "I want to learn Chinese now, so I can offer a translation to my friend." The only thing I could think of is 是 *(so: If I learn Chinese now, I can offer a translation to my friend) but then the sentence structure seems off to me. Or maybe 去? Any input is appreciated Thank you! Quote

No, that's the thing, the grammar of the day was 了 and 才 but I don't think those are relevant here. Keep in mind this is only my first semester of Chinese, we're about half-way through the term, so it shouldn't be anything complex. I think 开始 is probably a good guess, I have not heard any of the other suggested words, so they're outside my scope. I'm still not ruling out 去, unless someone has strong opinions about that? Quote
cbfunky Posted March 26, 2021 at 01:21 PM Author Report Posted March 26, 2021 at 01:21 PM So I submitted 跟老师 but apparently the only acceptable answers were: 努力nǔlì 去qù 开始kāishǐ Should have gone with 开始 T-T Quote

cbfunky Posted March 26, 2021 at 03:27 PM Author Report Posted March 26, 2021 at 03:27 PM A teacher always verifies afterwards to rule out exactly that problem. So I may still get points for that! Quote
