Kenny同志 Posted March 29, 2021 at 08:46 AM Report Posted March 29, 2021 at 08:46 AM (edited) Hi folks, I did a bit of translation for fun a while ago. The Chinese is rather challenging, and vague when it finishes. Given this and the fact that I am not a native speaker, the translation may be substandard. I would appreciate it if anyone could give me some feedback, and if possible, point out the mistakes I made in the translation. Thanks. A similar case is JR East, one of the best performing operators of the Shinkansen. The company’s core asset, the Tokaido Shinkansen, which connects Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka over its 553-kilometre line, enjoys great geographic advantages, reflecting a status similar to that of China’s Beijing-Shanghai railway route. This eastern line represents approximately 20% of Japan’s total railway length. We estimate that its passenger volume was about 65% of that of the whole Shinkansen network in 2019, and its P/E ratio near 31 times its original during the peak season in 1997, the year the company went public. PS: I am particularly concerned whether there are grammatical or collocation mistakes in the parts in bold. Edited March 29, 2021 at 10:58 AM by Kenny同志 1 Quote
889 Posted March 29, 2021 at 09:24 AM Report Posted March 29, 2021 at 09:24 AM Haven't done a serious edit, just note these couple of points: JR东海 is JR Central in English. The line represents 20 percent of Japan's high-speed rail. 1 Quote
