Chinese Characters & Words Learning App (JinbuPal)

Hey everyone!

I've been learning Chinese for a while now, and was looking for some ways to learn Chinese characters and words effectively - I struggle with that sometimes! I had already looked at some of the most well known Apps and resources (namely Duolingo, HelloChinese, etc.) to learn some new vocabulary, but I wasn't quite happy with always having to (and being confined to) always learn vocabulary by topic - and not being able to move on to something else until I had memorised those words, even if they were topics that I wasn't;t particularly interested in learning in that moment.

So, I went on Reddit haha, and there I stumbled across a new Chinese character and vocab learning App (that was still in development) called JinbuPal, and I immediately liked the concept! In fact, I enjoyed the idea so much that I decided to contact JinbuPal's developers to ask them more about the process behind the creation of the app as well as the future plans they had for it - and I was not disappointed!

Essentially, what makes JinbuPal different form any other vocabulary learning Apps (that I've come across so far at least), is that you, from the beginning on, have the full spread of options of hundreds (or rather thousands) of different words and characters you can learn. It is then up to you to chose what characters you want to learn when! Another thing I really like about it, is that, if you want, you can learn the meaning of the word or character, its pronunciation and pinyin writing separately, depending on what you are currently struggling with the most. You progress over time is also tracked in some very nice statistics for you to keep track! Here's a video explaining exactly how the App works with all of its different functions, as well as what JinbuPal's developers had to share about the future updates the App will have and the backstory behind its creation. Additionally, David, one of the two developers, explains how he has been using the app himself to learn Chinese starting from being an absolute beginner (not knowing a single word!): https://youtu.be/-EG_CxqWxAA

Personally, I really enjoy this App, and I think it could be very helpful for a lot of people out here, which is why I wanted to share my experience with it :) Go give it a try if you think it's something for you!

Hope I could help someone with this! Thanks for reading :)

Nina

Please try not to make every post about promoting JinbuPal and/or your youtube channel, otherwise people might think it's spam.

@imron Did you read the post? It is spam, an advertisement posing as a genuinely interested user.  I really don’t like advertising of this sort and will most certainly avoid this.

retracted. Thanks Lu.

I agree that the post looks suspicious, so I looked up the poster before letting this through. As far as I could find, she is not affiliated with this product. She is promoting something else, namely her own Youtube channel. I got the impression that in learning Chinese and finding content for her channel, she found this product and liked it. She's reviewed another app on her channel as well.

Yes, I am sorry if it came across the wrong way. I genuinely thought the App was interesting and I like using it myself, and I wasn't planing on making any other posts about it. I have also not been paid to say any of it! Again, my apologies in case it was inappropriate. Of course, feel free to remove the post if you think it is!

Everyone remembers that point in their Chinese learning journey when they discovered Pleco and decided to contact the developer to ask about their inspiration for creating a dictionary app. And then once they replied, you were so inpired you created new accounts on a number of platforms you previously had no interest in so that you could share the message about this fantastic new app with as many people as possible.

Now that you've done that, should you participate in any of the other discussions on the forum, since you are a learner, and there are lots of interesting discussions on here? Nah, sounds lame. You've got a youtube channel to promote run. Ain't nobody got time for that.

I am a very naughty boy, and I must endeavour to behave better in the future.

Again, I am really sorry it has come across this way. I did not mean for that. And yes, I do find the discussions here interesting, and no, I'm not creating fake accounts.

@imron (or any other administrator), please, could you remove the post? I don't want people to take it the wrong way.

Right, we've all made our point, promotional post looks promotional. I suggest we now take it back to actually discussing the app in question if anyone has thoughts on that, and if there are no thoughts on it, just leave the entire topic alone.

@Nina_pf, if you don't mind I'll leave the topic up, because I still believe that you were genuinely posting about something you found useful and that might also be useful to others. But if there are any more posts piling on you, I'll remove them and close the topic. I hope that you find other, useful topics on these forums that can help you in your Chinese studies.
