Any Online Chinese Learning Challenges?

Recommended Posts

Hi! Personally, I find it really fun and motivating to learn something when other people are doing it at the same time (and there is a little bit of competition involved too haha). Does anyone know about any active Chinese learning challenges people can participate in simultaneously online?

This is a great question. I don't personally have any challenges I'm working on, but another user @tsitsi has been keeping a blog on this site of their learning journey from Day 1 of learning Chinese, and was able to pass an HSK1 mock test in 11 days with a total of around 20 hours of Chinese learning. That could be a fun goal to try to match/beat.

Here's the blog. https://www.chinese-forums.com/blogs/blog/146-hsk-challenge/page/2/

I've participated in a few Hacking Chinese Challenges in the past. They have specific challenges each month like reading, writing, listening, tones etc. You can log what you do that day for the challenge and how much time you spend on it each day. I find the daily check in actually helps me to be consistent because I just feel like I have to do the check in and therefore I have to do the exercise even if I don't feel like it or too tired etc I'd still do 15-20 mins of reading or listening etc.

Thanks for the tip! And yeah, I especially like it when there are daily check-ups too, it holds me accountable haha. I'll check it out!

There is a Chinese writing contest just announced, to write something with a strict requirement of 320 available characters.

The goal for this contest is to minimise the advantages that long time learners have over beginner students with a focus on being creative.

Try this one out and get a chance to win some fabulous prizes.

Details are here:
