Post progress pics for cursive writing here!

I didn't practice handwriting for a while, but I worked it into my goals for this year and have been practicing again for a bit over a month now.

Here is a second sample copying the same text as before.

I think it's looking better than before. I'll show it to a couple of tutors later and get some feedback. Some characters have quite bad balance, like 起, but on the other hand I'm quite happy with others, like my 能 and 前.

A brief nonsense sentence I wrote today. Not terribly happy with 所、还、地。 But I am happy with 清楚、有、较。

Although it's certainly not winning any calligraphy awards (join the club, haha), you've definitely already achieved significantly more legible (and attractive) handwriting than many if not most learners. Well done!  Here's to continuing progress :D Definitely keep posting pics! I am keen to see how you do.

Another simplification: when writing words like 谢谢, use the Chinese ditto mark and make it 谢々.

Is that used in Chinese?
I've only seen in in Japanese.

Yes. It has been used in the example below to abbreviate the second 明 in "你明明知道".

这是我最近学到的手写字:视,别,海,每,数,游,游,看,京,北,第,楚,最,最(异体字),最(异体字),致,拇(写错了),多,旅,洗,至

There's certainly ample room to improve. But Rome wasn't built in a day. Find a good copybook. Try to appreciate it first. Develop a sense of what makes a good piece look good.

And another thing: That 我 is without doubt legit. But I suspect many people will have a hard time recognizing it. You might want to try these:

I asked about 叠字符号 on HiNative, and two people said they write it like this:

@黄有光 are you using online calligraphy dictionaries to find 字帖?

@Publius How do you feel about the two forms in the middle? Are they acceptable? My concern with the fourth form is that it has a potential to look very sloppy, very easily (i.e. it is "fragile" -- it must be written carefully and there is little room for error, outside of which it begins to look messy and illegible).

Also, could you clarify the stroke order of the fourth form?

Acceptable to me.

竖、竖、横折、捺

Clearer on this page. I especially like the second one on the third row by 怀素.

But if you feel it's too fragile, don't use it. Simple.
