I'm glad I kept silent and waited for somebody with more knowledge to speak up (i.e., Tonsima), because that top character looked very Japanese to me. Like this hiragana letter: 

 

Someday I'd like to understand Chinese handwriting. Not even sure how I'd go about that!

Work through these books, in this order:

 

1. INTRODUCTION TO CHINESE CURSIVE SCRIPT
(by Fred Fang Wang // Fang-yu Wang)

 

2. READ ABOUT CHINA IN CURSIVE SCRIPT
(by Chang Yi-Nan)

 

3. INTRODUCTION TO CHINESE LETTERS IN CURSIVE SCRIPT
(by Chang Yi-Nan)

 

This person has a series of videos (still being uploaded) that go over how to write in running script.

 

This YouTube Channel is devoted to Chinese handwriting, with some brief tutorials.

 

This workbook has been recommended to me, but I haven't had the pleasure of thumbing through it myself, so I can't say if it is good or not: 席殊3SFM实用硬笔字60小时训练

 

Finally, Mega Mandarin has partnered with a calligrapher to compile a very handy Anki deck of handwritten forms.

If you want to be a guinea pig, then you could also try this experimental 30,000-card Anki deck I put together.

That's very impressive and the videos are really interesting. As someone learning the traditional script, I wonder if you know some similar content for traditional characters?

The first book in the list I gave works primarily with traditional characters, as do the second and third books if I am not mistaken
