Tomsima Posted October 14, 2021 at 09:00 PM Report Posted October 14, 2021 at 09:00 PM https://youtu.be/Yz8y5BkWuyg Thought this video was quite interesting, gives a bit of insight into the lives of two live speech recorders in China. I was particularly interested to see how quick Chinese can be typed with a stenograph. Quote
大块头 Posted October 15, 2021 at 03:37 AM Report Posted October 15, 2021 at 03:37 AM Very interesting, thanks for sharing. I wonder what sort of encoding system she's using? The example she gave for 会议 is simultaneously pressing GIEUX, but if you peep at her screen you can see that the suggestions all share the same pinyin. Whatever it is, it's phonetic. This video gave the same approximate top typing speed of 600-700 CPM. It looks like typing competition speeds are only about 250 CPM, and they're presumably mostly using fancy encoding systems like 五笔. Quote
