Mig Posted October 30, 2021 at 05:53 PM Report Posted October 30, 2021 at 05:53 PM I have read some posting about people using Anki. I am more familiar to use the free version of Quizlet and I was wondering if someone can tell me the difference in plain English and how either are better to keep track on your learning curve? brownnoser Posted October 31, 2021 at 07:32 PM Report Posted October 31, 2021 at 07:32 PM anki is a spaced-repetition program. quizlet is not. quizlet is inefficient i recommend watching this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XaJjbCSXT0 Quote
New Members Jason Tai Posted November 1, 2021 at 02:07 PM New Members Report Posted November 1, 2021 at 02:07 PM Anki has great progress graphs that I find encouraging. Anki promises (and succeeds at) to work out which words you know well and which words you don't know well, and only shows you the words you don't know well. The premise is, this saves you time. So an anki study session is a long sequence of trying to remember those "hard to remember words" and never seeing words that you know well. Whereas with quizlet you'll get a better ratio of well-known to not-well-known which I find a little more psychologically beneficial. So there are pro's and cons to both. Personally speaking, After 5 years of using Anki I realized that Anki wasn't helping me save time. By not showing me all those cards that take 1 second to review each, I wasn't being reminded of what I already learnt, and instead spent all my time in cards that took 10-20 seconds to process. 1 Quote
Mig Posted November 2, 2021 at 04:49 PM Author Report Posted November 2, 2021 at 04:49 PM Thanks Jason, I opted to check Quizlet because I am more familiar with the layout and the use of flashcards that I use with Pleco flashcards. Still learning how to use flashcards efficiently. Quote
