WeilaiDaren Posted November 24, 2021 at 04:17 PM Report Posted November 24, 2021 at 04:17 PM Are there any sources for more recent books in Literary Chinese? I really like this language, but I lack interest for ancient literature. As Classical Chinese was the main form of writing until 1919, there should be a huge amount of more modern texts out there, but they are no where to be found so it seems... Quote
alantin Posted November 26, 2021 at 09:00 PM Report Posted November 26, 2021 at 09:00 PM Where exactly have you looked?! It's a country with a population of 1,4 billion people producing insane amounts of texts every day! You should find good book recommendations in many threads here. Just to mention a few: https://www.chinese-forums.com/forums/topic/2034-what-are-you-reading/#comment-17643 https://www.chinese-forums.com/forums/topic/61753-modern-short-stories-recommendations/#comment-483505 https://www.chinese-forums.com/forums/topic/61692-refilling-the-pipeline/ As to where to look for them, here is one good site for that: https://www.99csw.com/index.php If you fancy buying physical books, the two I've used are taobao and amazon. Kenny同志 Posted November 27, 2021 at 02:13 AM Report Posted November 27, 2021 at 02:13 AM Many modern authors wrote in classical Chinese, e.g. 蔣介石, 蕭公權, 柳詒徵, 陳寅恪, 錢鍾書, 章太炎, 魯迅, and 鄭逸梅. Try searching for their works. Quote
