joey-ny Posted December 25, 2021 at 09:28 AM Report Posted December 25, 2021 at 09:28 AM Hello, Can someone tell me if my parents vase is valuable or not, my mom swears that it's from the ancient dynasty. I've been searching for the stamp under the vase but couldn't find the exact same stamp. Thanks Quote
889 Posted December 26, 2021 at 07:44 PM Report Posted December 26, 2021 at 07:44 PM It's a Qianlong seal but oddly and poorly written and not from that era. The design on the vase itself is much better done, strangely. Might be Republican Era, but a shot of the entire base, a close-up of some of the detail and a look down inside would be useful. EDIT: The more I look at this the better it looks. The colors in particular seem just right. If it's Republican Era it certainly has collectible value. 1 Quote

889 Posted December 27, 2021 at 09:12 AM Report Posted December 27, 2021 at 09:12 AM Why don't you take a look at this one: compare the color tones -- those reds, those greens, those blacks -- and the fine detail to yours. The mark, too. https://www.rm-auctions.com/en/15-03-28-european-and-asian-arts/411-an-impressive-chinese-porcelain-famille-rose-rouleau-vase-republic-20th-c Also, look closely at the portion of the body visible on the unglazed area of the base. Older porcelain bodies usually have a distinctive sort-of crystalline look. 1 Quote
joey-ny Posted December 29, 2021 at 12:14 PM Author Report Posted December 29, 2021 at 12:14 PM The colors look similar between both of them... I might be a bit color blind, hard to compare. I noticed the drawings and the seal are drawn differently. Your vase comparison help me realize that my vase are drawings of the 8 immortals.... Quote
