Aza Posted October 6, 2005 at 09:13 PM Report Posted October 6, 2005 at 09:13 PM ...."Enter the Dragon" in Chinese? I don't mean in Chinese charachters; I mean how would it sound phoenetically. The nearest I have heard is "Ching loong/lung". I design and build Tomb Raider levels, then release them on the internet, for people to play free of charge, at trle.net. The level I am building at the moment is based on a giant dragon, hence the reason I would like to call it enter the dragon, but so it sounds Oriental. Cheers...Aza Quote
Yuchi Posted October 18, 2005 at 02:30 AM Report Posted October 18, 2005 at 02:30 AM "Ching loong/lung" sounds like 进龙 jin4 long2. Quote

Aza Posted October 18, 2005 at 05:54 AM Author Report Posted October 18, 2005 at 05:54 AM Thanks for the replies you guys I will call the level "Jin Ru Long". What are the numbers for after the words? Are they charachters that I don't have on my computer? Thanks again for helping me out. Cheers...Aza PS...Thanks Roddy Quote
Quest Posted October 18, 2005 at 03:52 PM Report Posted October 18, 2005 at 03:52 PM I will call the level "Jin Ru Long". That doesn't sound right for the name of a "level". Is "Enter the Dragon" an instruction to tell the player to enter the dragon? or does it mean the Dragon enters? or is it just a mimicking of Bruce Lee's film (龍爭虎鬥)? The numbers indicate tones, which you probably don't need to know. Quote
Aza Posted October 18, 2005 at 08:17 PM Author Report Posted October 18, 2005 at 08:17 PM Hi Quest, here are a couple of screen shots ( if permitted ); one of a previous level I have built, and one of my Dragon level. This one is from an Egyptian level. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v33/Azaaa/Tombraider/Eagle.bmp http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v33/Azaaa/Tombraider/Dragon2.jpg It's a bit hard to make out, but it is a big tartan dragon. We are running a competition at the moment that must be based on the orient. The idea of my level is to make your way through a temple, solving puzzles and beating enemies along the way, and exit through the Dragon. I want my level name to stand out from the crowd so I thought it would look good if it was in Chinese Quote
Quest Posted October 19, 2005 at 02:30 AM Report Posted October 19, 2005 at 02:30 AM How about calling it 龍城, meaning the Dragon Castle, which sounds a lot better than 進入龍. 進入龍 sounds like an action not a name. Quote
stephanhodges Posted October 19, 2005 at 12:33 PM Report Posted October 19, 2005 at 12:33 PM If you're level finishes by "going through the dragon", then the "action" version would be a clever hint, in my opinion. Especially since they won't know what it means literally. Quote
Aza Posted October 19, 2005 at 07:31 PM Author Report Posted October 19, 2005 at 07:31 PM I might alter the level so that you enter the temple through the dragons mouth, and you have to leave through it's...erm...erm, well I'm sure you can guess The two screenshots in my last post showed in the preview, I take it I am not allowed to post pictures at the moment? Dragon Temple, or Temple of the Dragon, which one sounds better? Cheers...Aza Quote
in_lab Posted October 20, 2005 at 04:32 AM Report Posted October 20, 2005 at 04:32 AM Why not "Enter the Dragon" in English? Not subtle enough? In the movie, Enter the dragon has the meaning of something like [stage enter Bruce Lee]. In your game it means [go inside the dragon]. So, it is a little clever, but also a little obvious. Overall, I think it's pretty good. Quote
Aza Posted October 20, 2005 at 07:09 PM Author Report Posted October 20, 2005 at 07:09 PM Howdy in_lab I want my level to stand out a bit from the rest in the competition , hence the reason I wanted the title to be in Chinese. Aza Quote
