黄有光 Posted April 26, 2022 at 08:56 PM Report Posted April 26, 2022 at 08:56 PM I would like to start really diving into the Chinese side of the internet, but I have no idea where to start. I'm realizing that I totally take for granted the ease with which I navigate the internet in English. I know where all the major hotspots are -- Reddit especially is a huge go-to for content, but I also know where to go for news and the like as well. What websites should I be aware of for consuming content in Chinese? I recently stumbled across 163.com, which seems to be quite good. Does anyone have any other recommendations? Websites that have a good spread of content? News websites? Forums? Websites that blend all three? 1 Quote

You should take a look at this ongoing thread. Lots of good suggestions. https://www.chinese-forums.com/forums/topic/62152-resources-for-immersion-chinese-media-tv-dramas-books-audiobook-guides-to-native-platforms-more/page/3/#comment-486751 Quote

Websites that blend all three? These 3 fit the bill (all mainland China & simplified characters). The first 2 are newspapers but with a good spread of content and many interesting articles besides the news headlines. Both are free of obnoxious ads, well written, and easy to navigate 界面新闻 https://www.jiemian.com/ The Paper https://www.thepaper.cn/ 界面新 This one is the Chinese equivalent of Life Magazine. The magazine itself is behind a paywall, but the site has many free articles, and older numbers of the magazine are free 生活周刊 http://www.lifeweek.com.cn/ 1 2 Quote

大块头 Posted April 27, 2022 at 11:34 PM Report Posted April 27, 2022 at 11:34 PM I've never used it myself, but 今日头条 is supposedly good at matching you with articles and other content you may like. 2 Quote
New Members henry1968 Posted April 28, 2022 at 08:40 AM New Members Report Posted April 28, 2022 at 08:40 AM As a native Chinese, I have a few recommendations. 1 Create a WeChat account and search for topics in which you are interested. You will find lots of official accounts, we call them 公众号. There are many amazing ones and you can read lots of stuff in depth. 2 Download a few apps, like 今日头条、知乎、微信读书. If you work for Tech companies, I recommend 虎嗅 and 36氪. They are really helpful. Feel free to let me know if you have further questions. 3 1 Quote
