confucius Posted January 5, 2004 at 12:50 AM Report Posted January 5, 2004 at 12:50 AM Looks like the paint wore off of that one in the photo. * You might actually have some luck using the links on this web site: www.uyghuramerican.org Quote
niubi Posted January 6, 2004 at 04:35 AM Report Posted January 6, 2004 at 04:35 AM you may want to start at the best university east asian libraries in australia. they may have publications from the xinjiang art academy and/or other arts institutions/publishing houses. many art academies and other arts institutions publish annuals featuring their artists and their work. another source worth looking for are artist dictionaries. you could easily find uygur artists listed in them: as you know they will have long names in chinese characters and generally all such books will list the ethnicity of the artists. Guest steviesullivan Posted January 6, 2004 at 05:01 AM Report Posted January 6, 2004 at 05:01 AM Thank you all. I was able to get some bios from the sources you have recommended to me. I too am interested in the photo posted. Could the member tell me what it is and where from. I am particularly interested in Internet resources so as visitors to my websites can quickly access information. I really seemed to have exhausted the more conventional search terms with little result So if anyone knows more please drop me a line. I am most appreciative to all those who replied. Rhamat PS Does anyone know the email address of the Xinjiang Art Academy. Can't find on net! Quote
niubi Posted January 6, 2004 at 06:17 AM Report Posted January 6, 2004 at 06:17 AM http://www.yishu.xjnt.com.cn/ - xinjiang arts college http://art15.nease.net/ - art15 xinjiang art web http://www.xj.cninfo.net/culture/unit/07/ - this is a single page on the xinjiang painting academy (painting academies typically are institutes which house professional artists - they are non-teaching, though they might offer short courses in arts) that same site has a secton called the xinjiang silk road calligraphy and painting workshop - there are pages for artists working in a variety of disciplines (it looks though that many are likely han chinese from their names): http://www.xj.cninfo.net/culture/drawer/ Quote
