NinjaTurtle Posted June 8, 2022 at 12:52 PM Report Posted June 8, 2022 at 12:52 PM Quote Kunstefan, It is Japanese writing. The first picture is a picture of Japanese shinto priests. The second picture contains the name Chiyoda (千代田) in large Chinese characters, which is the name of a neighborhood in Tokyo. 1 Quote
Publius Posted June 8, 2022 at 01:01 PM Report Posted June 8, 2022 at 01:01 PM https://dl.ndl.go.jp/info:ndljp/pid/2541717 千代田之御表 is a series of 10 ukiyoe paintings by the woodblock artist 楊洲周延, published in 1897, Tokyo by 福田初次郎. Yours seems to be a reproduction of the first part of the book, subtitled 芝増上寺初御成ノ図. 1 Quote
