was wondering, how satisfied plus receive = to suffer.

but second meaning of 受 suffer from pleco cleared my doubt. any one confused with this word? i think we should be aware when we are using it as receive and when using it as suffer, else the meaning will change.

The base meanings don't change though, and we have near equivalents in English: to have one's fill of sorrow; to endure hardship etc. You have to be sensitive to the notion the words are evoking.

thanks Jim.

 2. full, fully ( if you eat full meal, you will feel full, i think this is derived like that. connecting this word to full)

受 receive, suffer

I will reconnect it like above. hopefully this will work to remember.

it would be worthwhile learning the set phrase 吃饱了。It's frequently used.
