New Members Ziema26 Posted July 3, 2022 at 02:08 AM New Members Report Share Posted July 3, 2022 at 02:08 AM 你好! Does anyone know if it is possible to add pinyin to Chinese characters in InDesign as seen in the attached photo? I can already do this in Microsoft Word, but I would like to do this in Adobe InDesign or Affinity Publisher, if possible, as they are more professional in their output. Thanks in advance for any help with this! Jennifer
Jim Posted July 3, 2022 at 03:30 PM Report Share Posted July 3, 2022 at 03:30 PM This page seems to suggest you can add it as ruby text but also says there's only limited support for pinyin: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/formatting-cjk-characters.html#:~:text=Select the text to which you want to,the Character panel menu or Control panel menu.
vellocet Posted July 3, 2022 at 04:56 PM Report Share Posted July 3, 2022 at 04:56 PM Better to write your numbers as 一到六 instead of 1-6 so they'll get the pronunciation too.

markhavemann Posted July 4, 2022 at 12:58 AM Report Share Posted July 4, 2022 at 12:58 AM There are certain font's that include pinyin on top as part of the actual font itself. That could be a simple solution to look into. Here are some online: https://ziyouziti.com/index-index-search.html?keyword=拼音 - https://ziyouziti.com/mianfeiziti-355.html - https://ziyouziti.com/mianfeiziti-93.html - https://ziyouziti.com/mianfeiziti-61.html The dowload button is on the right hand side (apologies if your chinese is already good enough to not need help wit this this):
New Members Ziema26 Posted July 4, 2022 at 02:59 PM Author New Members Report Share Posted July 4, 2022 at 02:59 PM Mark, Thanks so much for your post! Unfortunately, the links listed above will not load on my Mac here in the US. I never thought to explore fonts that included the pinyin, so at least I can research them now that you have given me the idea. Thanks again, Jennifer
