Hope you are all well (and "Hoppy" year the Rabbit), my name is Daniel, I'm a long time lurker on here, but figure I make a quick post about an upcoming bookclub event we have coming up. I work for Sinoist Books, we specialise in the translation and publishing of Sinophone literature in the UK. to get an idea of our work, please see (https://sinoistbooks.com/catalogue/). We run a monthly free online book club which involves conversations between translators and experts on some of the titles we've published. We have two events coming up in the Feb/Mar period which you might find interesting: Shi Tiesheng’s My Travels in Ding Yi (我的丁一之旅) 23rd February (7:30pm GMT) With Professor Sarah Dauncey, whose research focuses on disability in China, and Chloe Starr, Associate Professor of Asian Christianity and theology. Li Er’s Cherries on a Pomegranate Tree (石榴树上接樱桃) 31st March (5pm GMT) With translator Dave Haysom More details are in the link below! https://eventbrite.co.uk/e/clrcuk-winter-season-feb-and-march-next-up-shi-tiesheng-tickets-540945270867 The events are open to all, and we'd love to have you there, pervious knowledge of the books are NOT required! Thanks! Daniel 2 Quote
Luxi Posted February 14, 2023 at 01:11 PM Report Posted February 14, 2023 at 01:11 PM Welcome and happy Rabbit year to you, Daniel! Nice to see you here. There was a "Book of the Month" subforum here for a time, but it seems to have died down now. The Sinoist book club is a great alternative to keep up with Chinese literature and discover new authors. It's great to meet the translators too. I especially enjoyed the Hedgehog Song (still reading it) and now I have a heap of Zhang Wei to read this year. 2 Quote
