Issues learning in Taiwan only knowing simplified characters

Recommended Posts

I have an offer to study Chinese in Taipei. I am B2 level but am slightly apprehensive as I've only studied with simplified characters. Does anyone see this as a big issue?

You'll learn traditional quite quickly. The learning curve is pretty short. Expect some confusion and extra effort in the first four weeks or so, after that you'll be fine, with only the occasional misunderstanding once in a while. Taiwan is a great country, good food, nice people. Go for it!

Thanks really appreciate the advice. That's what I was thinking too. I've been to Taiwan before (but just not to study) and it's a place I feel I can really connect with: the people are so friendly and the food so delicious. I just wish it wasn't so hot and humid in the summer months :)

No issue. After a few weeks, you will prefer it.
