I have bought Pleco in 2019 and sadly have not used it more than a handful of times since I am mostly reading Chinese texts on my PC. Any light at the end of the tunnel regarding implementing it on a PC laptop?

@mikelove I've downloaded the beta and so far didn't have any issues. Is there a draft manual available? I am not sure how to get started with the new flashcard system. Is the skritter like stroke order practice also available as a test mode?

 

Two things that were not immediately obvious to me:

- you can long press on the menu buttons

- It took me 10-20s to find the OCR functionality in the Reader/OCR tab because it just says "Reader" at the top and then the first row "Pinned" has the shortcuts but the icon design looks very similar to the document icons below that, so it's not obvious that there is actally some functionality and not a document behind those.

No manual available, but yes, if you use one of the new test modes you can pick "headword + stroke order" (which we have to come up with a better name for) as a test type to use it.

 

Good points on the menu buttons + OCR, thanks; we definitely need more variety in those icons.

Thanks for this, really excited to try it out. How long can we expect to wait between applying and getting a signup?

We process a batch of them about once a week (there are a bunch of fiddly manual steps involved in adding testers), so it mostly depends on when in that cycle you apply 🙂
