markpete Posted December 25, 2023 at 09:25 PM Report Share Posted December 25, 2023 at 09:25 PM Hi, all. Does anyone know of a way to write traditional characters in Microsoft PowerPoint with the Zhuyin Fuhao / bopomofo appearing to the right of each character? I'm having trouble finding the appropriate downloadable / installable font. Thanks, Mark
cncorrect Posted December 26, 2023 at 06:25 AM Report Share Posted December 26, 2023 at 06:25 AM I only know how to add pinyin to the right side. Maybe Zhuyin Fuhao / bopomofo work in a similar way. You can't get pinyin directly in Powerpoint. But you can do that with the following steps: 1. Type the characters and generate the pinyin in Word. 2. Copy the characters and pinyin into Powerpoint. 3. Type the vertical characters. 4. Insert text boxes and populate them with pinyin. You can copy the pinyin and paste them to the text boxes. I don't think the problem was caused by the font. 文字.pptx
markpete Posted December 26, 2023 at 04:50 PM Author Report Share Posted December 26, 2023 at 04:50 PM Thanks, @cncorrect. I did try copying and pasting from Word. Microsoft Word has some good ruby fonts (i.e. pinyin or zhuyin added along with the characters), so I've tried writing in Word, then copying and pasting the results. When I do that, it pastes the zhuyin along the top (and not well aligned) instead of on the side. And taking a screenshot of Word hasn't worked well because the resolution at small font sizes isn't good enough, and the zhuyin doesn't seem to scale up when I increase the font size in Word. ? I can copy and paste each zhuyin symbol separately, but that winds up being an awful lot of error-prone work to try to align everything properly. (I'm not desperate enough to do that just yet. ?) markpete Posted December 28, 2023 at 04:54 AM Author Report Share Posted December 28, 2023 at 04:54 AM @hoshi Thank you! Super helpful, that did the trick. For anyone else who stumbles on this thread and might find it useful, I also found some of the ruby fonts through Pinyin Joe's page. Also, it turns out that in Microsoft Word, you can adjust the size of the zhuyin fuhao as needed by clicking on the "Phonetic Guide" button in the Font controls under the Home ribbon, which I had somehow missed.
