Ian_Lee Posted October 17, 2005 at 10:21 PM Report Posted October 17, 2005 at 10:21 PM The highest honor of all pianists' dream will be realized in Warsaw next week! The most prestigious competition of pianists -- the Frederick Chopin International Competition -- is undertaken in Warsaw, Pland. This competition is held only once every 5 years. And last time it was Yundi Li from Shenzhen, China that won the top honor. This is the competiton's website: http://www.konkurs.chopin.pl/index.php And here is the list of 12 finalists from 257 contenders: http://www.konkurs.chopin.pl/show.php?DOC=Wyniki_II_etapu (Japan - 4, S. Korea - 3, Poland - 2, Hong Kong -1, US - 1, Russia -1) This competition is known to be tough and picky. If none of the finalists perform to what the judges expect, the judges will not hand out the first prize and leave it vacant! Quote
Ian_Lee Posted October 22, 2005 at 12:09 AM Author Report Posted October 22, 2005 at 12:09 AM The result has just been announced: http://www.konkurs.chopin.pl/show.php?DOC=Wyniki_fianlu Colleen Lee of China-HK was awarded the 6th prize (The competition offered 6 prizes). Though not as good as Yundi Li in 2000, it is still a great honor. Quote
