Native English speakers fluent in Chinese are needed to participate in an online linguistic experiment.

Hi guys, we are recruiting participants for a language and cognition study. If you are interested, please take part in it. The experiment involves identifying Chinese characters and participants above the intermediate level are preferred. About the online experiment:

The online experiment contains four tasks and it will take you around 15 to 25 minutes to complete the whole experiment. Only non-identifiable data (e.g., age, gender, language experience) will be collected. All data will only be used for research purposes and will not be shared with a third party. You will get £4 as a reimbursement.

Requirements:

·       Age: 18-40

·       Must be a native English speaker who speaks Chinese well.

·       Must be right-handed.

·       Must not have any vision or speech impairments.

·       Must be from a monolingual English-speaking household.

·       Must not be fluent in languages other than English and Chinese.

·       Must be intermediate or advanced in Chinese (e.g., HSK level 3-6). 

This experiment works best on a computer or laptop.

This study has been approved by the PPLS Ethics Committee (319-2324/2) at the University of Edinburgh. The experiment will expire on 7/7/2024. If you have any questions, please contact s2445682@ed.ac.uk.
