Translation/Transliteration

Recommended Posts

I used to know a foreigner named Jacob (a Scandinavian so pronounced with a /y/ sound).  His Chinese name sounded like ya-ke-bu.

I don't know the characters but someone can select from the set of characters used to pronounce foreign words.   呀可布  I imagine.

The /j/ sound would be 杰克布

But don't think your Chinese name must be a transliteration of your English name.  It can be anything.
