Hello.. can you help me to translate my cousin's hokkien name to mandarin.. her name is Ong Eng Lie..  thanks before

Well... since there's no tips on the tones, and there are still many characters with the same pronunciation in Hokkien, it's basically impossible to change phonetic alphabets into Chinese characters.

Ong as a surname could be 王, 汪, 黄 or 翁.

As for eng and lie, I'd say I could never find the responding characters because they are just impossible combinations in the standardized romanization of Hokkien. If these two character are non-standard romanization, then no one in this world could decipher it to get the original Chinese characters. The only good way is to find her/his parents, or the one who gave her/him this name for an exact answer.

Thank you so much for your kind response 🙏😁.. too bad her parents passed away long time ago.. and there were no more elders who might know the name origins 😅😅

Is there any relative that is still using Chinese in daily life? If so, at least we could find her a exact surname.

Or is there any document of identity, or letters, or other writings of her parents, grandparents or other even elder ancestor that is written in Chinese? They gave her a Chinese name so I think the time her family migrated abroad shouldn't be too far away from now.
