julio Posted August 13, 2024 at 02:02 AM Report Posted August 13, 2024 at 02:02 AM In Google translate I am translating from Chinese to English. How do I do for a part of the sentence to be translated remains the original chinese characters, other part of the sentence translate to target language that in my case is English. Quote
Lu Posted August 13, 2024 at 06:38 AM Report Posted August 13, 2024 at 06:38 AM As far as I know, you need to do that by hand. You put the whole sentence into Google Translate, copy the entire translation to whereever you want to use it; then you copy the part of the Chinese sentence you want to use and paste it to where you want to have it. Note that Google Translate is a useful tool for getting an idea of what a foreign-language text is about, but it often doesn't generate a 100% accurate translation. Use with caution. Quote
vellocet Posted August 13, 2024 at 07:10 AM Report Posted August 13, 2024 at 07:10 AM Use Baidu translate or Bing translate. google translate sucks. Just the other day I tried using them after a long absence and it insisted on translating Chinese to a Japanese word instead. Useless. Or there is a character-by-character translate at https://www.mdbg.net/chinese/dictionary?page=translate Which I always found more useful anyway. 1 Quote

vellocet Posted September 3, 2024 at 06:24 PM Report Posted September 3, 2024 at 06:24 PM Youdao Translate, eh? Never heard of it. Will try. Thanks! Baidu Translate's app has been getting super annoying and in your face with ads, even after I paid for a month of it. Quote
Jan Finster Posted September 3, 2024 at 09:52 PM Report Posted September 3, 2024 at 09:52 PM Explain it to chatgpt. I am sure it will do a great job Quote
vellocet Posted September 5, 2024 at 03:37 PM Report Posted September 5, 2024 at 03:37 PM That costs money and I'm not a subscriber. Speaking of which, Youdao Translate hit me up for a ¥69 annual subscription fee the first time I tried it. Wouldn't translate anything without it. Oh well, not paying for a product sight unseen. Uninstalled the app. I will still try the web page though. Quote
