markpete Posted September 19, 2024 at 06:11 PM Report Posted September 19, 2024 at 06:11 PM Hello, all. I was recently trying to register for an HSK exam, and if I select the option for "Internet-based test (at home)", then it tells me that there are no available dates. Is the home-based test no longer an option? Curious if anyone else has heard about this or is running into the same problem. Thanks! Mark 1 Quote
zhouhaochen Posted September 20, 2024 at 07:12 AM Report Posted September 20, 2024 at 07:12 AM The home based test was introduced during COVID as people could not go to test centers. It came with significant challenges, with the obvious easy cheating opportunities, but also limiting the number of test takers to people of a specific country etc. It also risks the income of the physical HSK exam centers, as why would anyone go to a test center if they can do the test at home too. I never heard of anyone taking a home based HSK exam since COVID, so I am reasonably certain that it does not exist anymore, though I also never saw an announcement saying that it was officially stopped. That you cant find any dates for it sounds reasonable. Personally I would not wait for new test dates to appear, but look for a physical center close to you to take the HSK. 1 Quote
markpete Posted September 20, 2024 at 09:57 PM Author Report Posted September 20, 2024 at 09:57 PM Ah, you might be right, thanks. That's a shame, though! I took it at home last November-- certainly more convenient. And their website only lists tests at centers in Arkansas, Washington, Virginia, and New York (at least from now through the end of 2024). 1 Quote
