ck3908 Posted October 23, 2005 at 11:39 AM Report Posted October 23, 2005 at 11:39 AM Hi, Is there a comprehensive website of chinese characters that also have media files to demonstrate the pronunication of each character? I'm not talking about pinyin system, I'm more interested in being able to click on any character and then hear the sound of that character? Looked for it, but can't seem to find one website with a comprehensive listing? anyone? thks in adv. Quote
skylee Posted October 23, 2005 at 12:29 PM Report Posted October 23, 2005 at 12:29 PM Try http://www.mdbg.net/chindict/chindict.php?istm=0 . There are sound files for the words you look for. Quote
Mike Posted October 23, 2005 at 03:01 PM Report Posted October 23, 2005 at 03:01 PM Using CEDICT or MDBG free online Chinese-English dictionary I find that some words have an audio file like:- 瓶 ping2 /bottle/(a measure word)/vase/pitcher/ But no audio file in either dictionary for: - 罐 guan4 /can/jar/pot/ Can someone please explain why? laohu489 Posted October 24, 2005 at 11:43 PM Report Posted October 24, 2005 at 11:43 PM Yeah, I wonder why some pinyin/ tone combinations are not available. The only place I know that has all of them, and even your choice of male/ female voice is Wenlin, but that is not online. But in fairness, MDBG may not have 'guan4', but it does have 'guan' and the rest can be extrapolated. Quote
