tamarind Posted October 24, 2005 at 06:51 AM Report Posted October 24, 2005 at 06:51 AM Hi, My 2 year old girl loves to read. I am looking for good Chinese story books for her, those with nice pictures and simple chinese characters, and exciting story lines. I have exhausted my search in Singapore. Anyone knows where to find these type of books in Beijing, Shanghai or Hong Kong ? Thanks in advance. Quote
nipponman Posted October 24, 2005 at 10:30 AM Report Posted October 24, 2005 at 10:30 AM Have you tried looking online? There are plenty of stories for children online, like this one here: http://edu.ocac.gov.tw/biweekly/animation1/431_d4/index.htm. Hope that helps. nipponman Quote
stephanhodges Posted October 24, 2005 at 12:23 PM Report Posted October 24, 2005 at 12:23 PM I also found this the other day. http://www.bookbox.com/index.php They are animated books (you need a computer to view), with audio in several languages. One book is free, and you can try out the first part of all the books available. I'm not affiliated with that site. Quote
tamarind Posted October 26, 2005 at 01:39 AM Author Report Posted October 26, 2005 at 01:39 AM Thanks for the suggestions. Those are very nice websites ! But I still have to look for books for my girl, she has a habit of reading at least 5 books in bed before she sleeps, it will be difficult to put a computer in bed. Quote

New Members Sweet Plum Fairy Posted November 21, 2010 at 02:36 AM New Members Report Posted November 21, 2010 at 02:36 AM There are many great books available at your library that are in English, but introduce Mandarin to non-native speakers. I did study Chinese as a non-Chinese and now I am trying to teach my young children Chinese myself. As a result, I have decided to start sharing my knowledge of good Chinese resources for non-native speakers on my blog site: http://blog.sweetplumfairy.com I strongly recommend checking out books by Huy Vuon Lee and Grace Lin. There books are a great step towards introducing Chinese to preschoolers! Hope this helps! Megan (aka Sweet Plum Fairy) New Hampshire, USA Quote
