wushijiao Posted October 24, 2005 at 01:24 PM Report Posted October 24, 2005 at 01:24 PM Any suggestions for November? I was thinking of chosing either 围城 by 钱钟书 or 家 by 巴金. Both books are modern classics, and should be available in the Mainland, Taiwan, HK and overseas in most university libraries. 围城 is also on verycd.com, for those of you who would prefer to listen to it. Anyway, are there any other ideas? If you are considering reading a book in Chinese in the near future, you might as well suggest it here. At least I might think about reading it with you together. skylee Posted October 24, 2005 at 02:42 PM Report Posted October 24, 2005 at 02:42 PM I think you said some time ago that you found 圍城 too difficult or something ... It is a good book, I suppose, judging from what others say. I don't particularly like it, though ... Quote

I did say that! http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/1626-chinese-novels-for-laowais&highlight=novels+laowais But that was more than a year ago. In theory, at least, my Chinese has improved quite a bit. I'm pretty sure that I can read it now. Quote
