roddy Posted February 14, 2006 at 05:27 AM Report Posted February 14, 2006 at 05:27 AM Would anyone be interested in moderating / managing this forum? Pm or email me. I'm not looking for a native speaker of Chinese (sorry, but it needs to be designed for Chinese learners). Roddy Quote
trooper Posted February 15, 2006 at 04:33 AM Report Posted February 15, 2006 at 04:33 AM I think the sub forum's a good idea. It will work best if the level of Chinese in most of the threads is not too advanced and the posts are kept quite short, otherwise most learners will be scared away and the only active people who remain in the forum will be native Chinese, which will defeat the purpose. I say this because I find that can cope with reading native Chinese speakers posting to each other in Chinese in a chatty way, but I get put off when they cut & paste huge chunks of Chinese from online newspapers or articles into their threads, which slows down my reading so much that I give up. Whoever the new moderator of the sub-forum is, he should make sure that everyone keeps the posts short! Quote
roddy Posted February 15, 2006 at 05:36 AM Report Posted February 15, 2006 at 05:36 AM Agreed. Pm or email me. I'm not looking for a native speaker of Chinese (sorry, but it needs to be designed for Chinese learners). Having said that, any CSL teachers would be ideal Quote

novemberfog Posted February 22, 2006 at 03:23 AM Report Posted February 22, 2006 at 03:23 AM I would but my Chinese is not really good enough. I really hope somebody can volunteer though. It would be a great resource for learning. IMs are too fast, but message board threads are perfect! Quote
elina Posted February 22, 2006 at 05:39 AM Report Posted February 22, 2006 at 05:39 AM 我推荐skylee,因为她: 1.中文很好,英文也很好,同时又会不只一种外语,尽管Roddy说过:I'm not looking for a native speaker of Chinese (sorry, but it needs to be designed for Chinese learners),但我觉得,就算所学习的外语语种会不相同,但学习外语的体会和经验都是触类旁通的; 2. Quote
roddy Posted February 22, 2006 at 06:13 AM Report Posted February 22, 2006 at 06:13 AM 这大概就是他迟迟不动的原因。 主因是本君的懒惰度挺高 Ok, I've now created this forum - I'm still hoping someone else will offer to keep an eye on it, partially because if anything I need to cut down the amount of time I spend on here, and partly because I'm always keen to get members more involved. As with Chat and Language Exchange, it will only be viewable to members who have already contributed in the 'core' sections of the board - guests and very recently-joined members won't see it. I feel kind of guilty this took so long - this topic's been going for months now Roddy Quote
skylee Posted February 22, 2006 at 07:50 AM Report Posted February 22, 2006 at 07:50 AM Thanks for the nomination, elina. I am flattered. BUT I can't be a moderator because a) my degree of laziness is not just 挺高 but 很厲害; B) I cannot explain Chinese grammar at all; c) roddy doesn't want a native speaker, and I am not even qualified as one as my mother tongue is Cantonese. HAHAHA. But your observation No. 3 is quite accurate. Quote
HashiriKata Posted February 22, 2006 at 08:10 AM Report Posted February 22, 2006 at 08:10 AM roddy doesn't want a native speaker, and I am not even qualified as one as my mother tongue is Cantonese. Then, you should have one less reasons to decline. Am I not right? Quote
elina Posted February 22, 2006 at 09:22 AM Report Posted February 22, 2006 at 09:22 AM Then, you should have one less reasons to decline. Am I not right? HashiriKata 说得好。B) I cannot explain Chinese grammar at all; 也许用不着向他们解释中文语法,只需告诉他们: 如果我是你,我会这样说:…… Quote
nipponman Posted February 22, 2006 at 12:32 PM Report Posted February 22, 2006 at 12:32 PM Even though I too would like to see skylee do this, I would like to offer myself up for the position. Even though, I can't explain grammar too well. Quote
roddy Posted February 22, 2006 at 12:55 PM Report Posted February 22, 2006 at 12:55 PM Ok, I'm now officially banning anyone from posting in this topic unless they are also active in the 中文角 Quote
