大家好!

just wanna ask - how do you say "___ family" in mandarin?

do you say 王家? so if i want to say "i love you, wang family!" do you say "我爱你,王家!”

sorry for the kinda stupid question haha

谢谢!

Chinese seldom use the phrase of 'I love you'. And if you want to say 'I love you' in this circumstance for sure, it's 我爱你们 as '王家' is of plural concept.

To come to your question, you could use 王家 or 老(小)王一家 or 老(小)王一家人, and 老(小) is needed as a prefix for '一家'. However, when the surname is composed of two or more chracters, 老/小 could be omitted, say, 司马/欧阳/foreign family names.

The translation would be: 我)爱你们王家(的人) but people don't usually say that in Chinese though... Can you give us more context?

People usually don't say that in english. I think this kind of translation is ineffective because it is not really natural in either language. Why would you say, "I love you" to a whole family? Also, it has been my experiences that orientals don't use the term "love" very often.

MYX, to be honest, mate, it's a bit weird to say that. Although I am sure the family will get what you mean, but it just sounds weird.

Maybe using "I love you all (wo ai ni men)! " to show your feeling would be more appropriate.
