Lu Posted November 13, 2005 at 07:20 PM Report Posted November 13, 2005 at 07:20 PM No need to bring CDs, unless they are rare ones that you can't do without. CDs are sold widely and very cheaply in China, you'll be wondering how to bring them all back at the end of your stay. (Are the boothlegs you talk about illegal? If so, you might consider not to bring them, they might be taken by costums and you'll get a fine. And you run this risk twice, on your way in and even more on your way out.) Also no need to stack up on tooth paste, as I remember it is sold in every Chinese supermarket. Quote
gougou Posted November 14, 2005 at 01:26 AM Report Posted November 14, 2005 at 01:26 AM For CDs, you might want to consider buying an external hard drive and ripping them onto there (or directly on a laptop, if you have one). If your talking hundreds of CDs, this is going to save you a lot of weight. Quote
phbriggs Posted November 14, 2005 at 03:31 AM Report Posted November 14, 2005 at 03:31 AM I had already stocked up on bars of soap and toothpaste. Wouldn't worry about taking these. Soaps are good in China and widely available. Toothpaste is also commonly available....check that it has fluoride if you use this type. The flavours in China are amazing. Something which might be also handy is a alcohol based hand steriliser (put onto you hand, runb them together and they dry and the alcohol helps sterilise them). Quote
