Wu Mei Man Posted November 9, 2005 at 01:43 AM Report Posted November 9, 2005 at 01:43 AM hi... Just wondering... what if I can understand basic Mandarin, can slightly speak the language but well can read only little bit of Chinese Character. What course should I take? THe basic one or the Advance one? What's the best school in China? I've heard about BCLU but I'm not very convinced. Can anyone please point the way? Thanks! Quote
adrianlondon Posted November 19, 2005 at 10:34 AM Report Posted November 19, 2005 at 10:34 AM I assume BLCU will be the same, but as far as I can fathom, if you enroll in BNU you'll be tested and can take speaking at one level and reading/writing at another. I met up with a Korean guy while I was in Beijing a few days ago and he pointed out to me that most Koreans can read/write quite well (as they use a lot of the same characters - Japanese will also have a similar advantage) but can't speak Mandarin at all. As BNU has many Koreans and Japanese studying there, it should be well geared up for people with differing skills. Quote
