Interesting lyrics of jingju

Here is an interesting excerpt from Jingju (Beijing opera) named 'Wu jia Po' (武家坡).

This excerpt only contain 2 characters, Xue Ping Gui and Wang Bao Chuan. These 2 characters are famous opera characters and many opera types have their own version of this show.

This singing part is actually about Xue Ping Gui returning to his hometown to look for his wife. Seeing his wife, he decided to play a trick on her to test if she is still faithful to him. Ping Gui told Bao Chuan that her husband has already sold her to him. Not recognising that Ping Gui is actually her husband, she started to scold Ping Gui.

It is a very interesting part as the conversation between the 2 of them is very funny. I love it so much!

王宝钏：【二六】指着西凉高声骂，无义的强盗骂几声。妻为你不把相府进，我为你失了父女情。既是儿夫将我卖，谁是那三媒六证的人？

薛平贵：【快板】苏龙魏虎为媒证，王丞相是我们主婚的人。

薛平贵：大嫂休要巧言辩，为军哪怕到当官，衙里衙外我打点，管保大嫂你就断与咱。

王宝钏：军爷休要发狂言，欺奴犹如欺了天。西凉鞑子造了反，妻儿老小与奴一般。

薛平贵：好一个贞节王宝钏，百端调戏也枉然。怀中取出银一锭，将银放在地平川。这锭银，三两三，拿回去，把家安，买绫罗，做衣衫，做一对少年的夫妻过几年哪！

王宝钏：这锭银，奴不要，与你娘做一个安家的钱。买白布，做白衫，买纸钱，挂白幡，买大麻，系麻辫，落一个孝子的名儿在那天下传。(these 2 lines are my favourite cuz they are funny!)

薛平贵：烈女就该在家园，因何来在大路边？为军起下不良意，【摇板】一马双跨到西凉。
