I have a reservation about making a reservation...

My reservation is that I've come across two words, both pronounced the same but using different characters. Just wondering if there's any difference or if both are possible.

预定/预订

This reminds me all too much of my overly-complicated 头疼/头痛 thread, which I'm now a master of, thanks guys :mrgreen:

预定=plan to do something.

预订=reservation, reserve,

Hope it helps!:)

i was told that the two "dings" are interchangable when it comes to 预定 and 定做. that's what what of our teachers told me, anyways. i have no explanation, though. wish i had one.

预订 is used to make a reservation but i think 预定 can be used in terms of saying 'this table is reserved'...
