menering Posted November 28, 2005 at 03:23 PM Report Posted November 28, 2005 at 03:23 PM Hello, Some quotation: "It was going to be a dead-on boring semester. We were going to study language, math, English, politics, finance and accounting (a new class), plus study hall, class meetings, secretarial kills, flower arranging (a new class), computers, Chinese, gym, calligraphy, and our daily technical class. No history no geography no philosophy no music no biology no chemistry." My question is - what could the pupil mean here by "language" if she names "Chinese" as well a little bit further? skylee Posted November 28, 2005 at 11:21 PM Report Posted November 28, 2005 at 11:21 PM And she names "English" after "math" as well. And also secretarial "kills". Could "language" be a typo/mistake? Quote
autumn Posted November 29, 2005 at 02:17 AM Report Posted November 29, 2005 at 02:17 AM Language could possibly be referring to linguistics while English could possibly be referring to literature. Quote
kudra Posted November 29, 2005 at 06:15 AM Report Posted November 29, 2005 at 06:15 AM Is "flower arranging" a common subject in Chinese curriculum? It makes me think Japan, in which case language could be Japanese. Just a wild guess based on stereotypes and misconceptions I'm only partially aware of. Quote
