jukebox Posted December 6, 2005 at 05:15 PM Report Posted December 6, 2005 at 05:15 PM 人们(警察)发现他死于(在)电话机旁(上、前、里) words with underline could be omitted and words in parentheses are alternatives under different circumstances, but I think it's not necessary to translate 'found'. edti: OK, i think '他被发现死在电话前' is acceptable, though just a little bit English way of speaking. Bastonata Posted December 6, 2005 at 05:35 PM Author Report Posted December 6, 2005 at 05:35 PM thank you very much. I guess it would help that it is a title of a book, and the context is a man was found dead at his desk. He was killed while talking on a phone, so his body is found holding the phone. what do you think would be the best choice? Quote
jukebox Posted December 6, 2005 at 05:54 PM Report Posted December 6, 2005 at 05:54 PM hmmm...命丧电话? Could anyone else suggest a better title? It's rather difficult to choose a proper title in Chinese. As you may already know, Chinese tend to use four-character words as titles for books, movies, etc or use some obscure words. Of course, four-character titles are not compulsory but could be found here and there in spite of irrelevance to the contents. Quote
