roddy Posted January 13, 2004 at 03:03 AM Report Posted January 13, 2004 at 03:03 AM I've just come across this in something I'm reading for work Comrade Mao Zedong said: “Sometimes, the truth is with the minority.” Anyone know what that was in the original Chinese? Roddy Quote

niubi Posted January 13, 2004 at 06:50 AM Report Posted January 13, 2004 at 06:50 AM i am not sure where that's from, but i would think you ought to read mao's 'report from xunwu寻乌调查'. this important work by mao was lost for some years, then planned to be added to mao selected works, and then disappeared for a couple more decades. it resurfaced as deng xiaoping was solidifying his power in the post mao period and was used as a basis of legitimacy for his campaign/slogan to "seek truth from facts". at the same time its publication in the early 80s was critical in repudiating certain aspects of the legacy of mao. skylee Posted January 13, 2004 at 09:51 AM Report Posted January 13, 2004 at 09:51 AM I have done a search and found it in a speech of April 1959 (see item 7). As cited in the webpage, the Chinese version can be found in 毛澤東思想萬歲 published during the cultural revolution. But it could have appeared elsewhere as well. Quote
