tradinup Posted December 15, 2005 at 02:10 PM Report Posted December 15, 2005 at 02:10 PM Hi, In a nutshell, I would like to know what it takes to pass the HSK level 6. I just learn Chinese by myself because I'm a full-time English teacher, so I would like to know what the students perspective is or someone who has already done it. Thanks Quote

kudra Posted December 15, 2005 at 06:41 PM Report Posted December 15, 2005 at 06:41 PM Looks like you can take a sample test. Follow the link at http://www.hsk.org.cn/english/Default.asp It looks like they have beginning, intermediate and advanced. Quote
Liu Bang Posted December 15, 2005 at 06:57 PM Report Posted December 15, 2005 at 06:57 PM I'm currently in America and it's unlikely I will make it to China for a few more years at least. Is it possible to take HSK test in the US and get certified? Even though I won't be able to go to China for a while I can think of some definite benifits to having that certification even in the US. Also when I do finally go I'll already have the basic level out of the way at least. Quote
Catdiseased Posted December 15, 2005 at 09:06 PM Report Posted December 15, 2005 at 09:06 PM yes, it's possible to take the hsk exams in most countries nowadays, and the US is even one of the countries where you can take the high-level exams (outside China). There should be a few places where Exams are hold regurlarly, like Universities. Quote
woliveri Posted December 15, 2005 at 09:36 PM Report Posted December 15, 2005 at 09:36 PM Yes it's possible to take the HSK in the states. However, I'm in Southern California and they offer the test only One Time a year. http://www.pasadena.edu/chinese/hsk/index.cfm http://www.pasadena.edu/chinese/hsk/exams.html Quote

roddy Posted December 16, 2005 at 05:10 AM Report Posted December 16, 2005 at 05:10 AM I don't have my HSK books handy, but somewhere there's a break down of what you should have studied in terms of hours and vocabulary for each level. To be honest though, I'd do one of the tests now as a practice, see where you are and then set a goal from there, according to how much time you have to study between now and the test. Roddy Quote
