Hello, if you live in China and you have $250 a month income for expenses. Is this enough to pay for your fees and can you save maybe $100 a month for other unexpected charges? Thank you.

Depends where you are in China. Its definitely not enough if you have to pay rent out of it and are living in any reasonably large city. Should cover basic living costs though, assuming you cook for yourself and live frugally.

I agree with the above post, I live on school campus, get $400 month and live in a small city in the shandong province, more than enough if you aren't into fancy restaurants (western), daily nightlife etc...

If you have to rent a flat, I would reconsider $250....it will be painful, especially if you're going to be staying in (almost) any capital city.

is this living expenses only? not to include tuition or large purchases?

will you live alone, or share an apartment?

you can rent a nice apartment in kunming for under $100, share for less than $50.

but i've read km is a lower-cost city than other large cities.

For just living costs (not including tuition fee, rent, etc) it's doable, even in Beijing, I think. But don't go to fancy restaurants and clubs. Cooking for yourself won't make much of a difference, eating out in cheap restaurants is not more expensive (plus it tastes better, unless you're a very good cook :-) ).
